Perspectives and Insights
Societies are complicated systems, and humans are creative and complex creatures with different points of view. The definition of progress is not the same for all people and every person brings to this planet his or her own unique set of circumstances, insights and opinions.
However, it seems some truths are universal. Even with opposing beliefs, disparate amounts of knowledge and patience, and controversy, there are opportunities to find common ground and solve problems that appear to be overwhelming.
In the following, you may find a new perspective or vantage point, or some new courage. A more philosophical point of view . . . strategies and solutions.

Richard Williams, an American rapper, explains in this video the current state of our social lives.
Why I Refuse to Let Technology Control Me.
You need not delete your social networks or destroy your cell phones, the message is simple, be balanced, be mindful, be present, be here. :)
Did you know the average person spends 4 years of his life looking down
at his cell phone?
Kind of ironic, ain't it?
How these touch-screens can make us lose touch.
But it's no wonder in a world filled with
IMac's, iPads and iPhones
So many "i"'s, so many selfies, not enough "us"'s and "we"'s
See, Technology has made us more selfish and separate than ever
Cause while it claims to connect us, connection has gotten no
And let me express first
Mr Zuckerberg, not to be rude, but you should re-classify Facebook
to what it is:
An anti-social network
Cause while we may have big friend lists
So many of us are friendless, all alone
Cause friendships are more broken than the screens on our very phones
We sit at home on our computers measuring self worth by
numbers of followers and Likes
Ignoring those who actually love us
It seems we'd rather write an angry post
Than talk to someone who might actually hug us
Am I bugging? You tell me...
I asked a friend the other day lets meet up face to face
They said all right, what time you wanna Skype?
I responded with omg, srs, and then a bunch of smh's
And realized what about me?
Do I not have the patience to have conversation without
This is the generation of media over stimulation
Chats have been reduced to snaps
The news is 140 characters
Videos are 6 seconds at high speed
And you wonder why ADD is on the rise faster than 4G LTE
But, get a load of this
Studies show the attention span of the average adult today
Is one second lower than that of a gold fish .
So if, you're one of the few people or aquatic animals that have
yet to click off or close this video, congratulations.
Let me finish by saying you do have a choice, yes
But this one my friends we cannot Auto-Correct - we must do it
Take control or be controlled, Make a decision
Me? No longer do I want to spoil a precious moment by recording it
with a phone
I'm just gonna keep them
I don't wanna take a picture of all my meals anymore -
I'm just gonna eat them
I don't want the new app, the new software, or the new update.
And If I wanna post an old photo of myself who says I have to wait
I'm so tired of performing in the pageantry of vanity
And conforming to this accepted form of digital insanity .
Call me crazy but, I imagine a world where we
smile when we have low batteries
Cause that will mean we'll be one bar closer - to humanity.
(documentary film) by James Russell (Official)
Comment: This may be one of the most important documentaries ever made. You will need almost 90 minutes to watch the entire film, but it is time well spent. Anyone using wireless devices should watch this film.
RESONANCE is an eye opening documentary which reveals the harm we are doing by existing in an ocean of man made wireless frequencies.
Two billion years ago life first arrived on this planet; a planet, which was filled with a natural frequency. As life slowly evolved, it did so surrounded by this frequency. and Inevitably, it began tuning in.
By the time mankind arrived on earth an incredible relationship had been struck; a relationship that science is just beginning to comprehend.
Research is showing that being exposed to this frequency is absolutely integral to us. It controls our mental and physical health, it synchronizes our circadian rhythms, and it aids our immune system and improves our sense of wellbeing.
Not only are we surrounded by natural frequencies, our bodies are filled with them too. Our cells communicate using electro magnetic frequencies. Our brain emits a constant stream of frequencies and our DNA delivers instructions, using frequency waves. Without them we couldn't exist for more than a second.
This delicate balance has taken billions of years to perfect. But over the last 25 years the harmony has been disturbed. and disturbed dramatically.
Mankind has submerged itself in an ocean of artificial frequencies. They are all around us, filling the air and drowning out the earth's natural resonance.
To the naked eye the planet appears to be the same. But at a cellular level it is the biggest change that life on earth has endured; the effects of which we are just starting to see and feel.

A shocking expose on corruption within World Health Organization ranks, relating to scientific causality of harm from electromagnetic radiation (EMR) Author: Susan D. Foster MSW - March 2014
Monday, February 3, 2014 was a very strange day in London. Only the weather was predictable. A cold rain fell as a dais of scientists faced a room full of reporters in the Royal Society Library's Special Events Room on Carlton House Terrace. With its pillared roots going back to the 1600s, the Royal Society Library had welcomed scientists from all over the world for centuries.
"On this day, two scientists distinguished themselves as authors of the thick, glossy tome that was almost the biggest presence in the press briefing. Co-authors Prof. Bernard Stewart, Faculty of Medicine, University of New South Wales and Christopher Wild, PhD, Director of the World Health Organization's (WHO) esteemed International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) prepared to tell the world we are on the verge of a cancer tsunami. World Cancer Report 2014 was nearly six years in the making. IARC is the cancer agency of the WHO, and a core part of their mission is to disseminate information on cancer. They gather information, frequently classify the risk level of various substances, and share that news with the world. This day the news was daunting.
"Cancer rates are growing at such a rapid pace that we cannot treat our way out of this global health crisis. We must focus on prevention on a massive scale, Drs. Wild and Stewart announced to the gathering of just over 25 reporters. The human and economic catastrophe awaiting the world, with healthcare costs spiraling out of control, was described in great detail in the massive report these two men had just completed. The 650-page book, the first World Cancer Report since 2008, painted a dim picture for the world.
"Reporters gathered at the press briefing heard the numbers and the implications were clear. . . .

"I banned laptops in the classroom after it became common practice to carry them to school. When I created my "electronic etiquette policy" (as I call it in my syllabus), I was acting on a gut feeling based on personal experience. I'd always figured that, for the kinds of computer-science and math classes that I generally teach, which can have a significant theoretical component, any advantage that might be gained by having a machine at the ready, or available for the primary goal of taking notes, was negligible at best. We still haven't made it easy to type notation-laden sentences, so the potential benefits were low. Meanwhile, the temptation for distraction was high. I know that I have a hard time staying on task when the option to check out at any momentary lull is available; I assumed that this must be true for my students, as well.
"Over time, a wealth of studies on students' use of computers in the classroom has accumulated to support this intuition. Among the most famous is a landmark Cornell University study from 2003 called "The Laptop and the Lecture," wherein half of a class was allowed unfettered access to their computers during a lecture while the other half was asked to keep their laptops closed.
"The experiment showed that, regardless of the kind or duration of the computer use, the disconnected students performed better on a post-lecture quiz. The message of the study aligns pretty well with the evidence that multitasking degrades task performance across the board. . . .
"I had one small suggestion, which I will implement the next time I teach (and for that class, I will generally continue to have the laptops closed): I will require my students to read some of the studies I've alluded to in this post, to help them understand why I'm doing what I'm doing and to get them to think critically about the use of technology in their lives and their education.
"We're not all that far along in understanding how learning, teaching, and technology interact in the classroom. Institutions should certainly enable faculty to experiment with new technology, but should also approach all potential classroom intruders with a healthy dose of skepticism, and resist the impulse to always implement the new, trendy thing out of our fear of being left behind."

"I'm glad that my body reacts to microwave radiation and warns me to leave dangerous areas. I have learned to listen to my body, and not to some bored electronics engineer who has no clue - or care - about biology . . ."

Personal commentary: Whether you know it or not, like it or not, want it or not, we are engaged in a struggle that concerns every living being on our planet, the human spirit, and defending the earth against further environmental destruction. All life is sacred and a beautiful gift that must be respected and protected at all cost.
Earth's dependence on fossil fuels, coal mining, fracking and nuclear plants are not needed at all. Yet the powers that be continue to keep humanity chained to dirty energy, create wars for it, destroy the environment, poison ground water and harm mother Earth so we can continue using the same old techniques that generate trillions of dollars for those at the top of the energy industry. This can't go on. We need to change things now, not in 2015, 2020, 2030 - NOW! The future of our planet and all life depend on it.

From the Science Blog on Mobile Phone Radiation and Health by Dariuz Leszczynski
"Recent publication of the Canadian report on Safety Code 6 (RF-EMF and health) brought again to limelight the problem of electromagnetic hypersensitivity - EHS.
"Yet again, scientists and lay audiences were fed with the standard mantra in the Canadian report: "The symptoms are real, but what causes them is a mystery". The same mantra is propagated by WHO, ICNIRP and numerous expert committees.
"I have the feeling that this mantra was introduced to the EMF research area few years ago for the sole purpose to "get the EHS people off our backs". Designers of this mantra assumed that by showing compassion for the suffering of EHS people they will alleviate tensions that exist between EHS sufferers and decision-makers.
"They were mistaken. The mantra did not alleviate tensions and EHS sufferers more and more forcefully demand solution to their problem. Simple admission that their symptoms and suffering are real is not enough. What is needed is both, precautionary approach and a serious research effort to find out what and how causes EHS.
"Unfortunately the arena of EHS research is polluted with bad science. Badly designed studies waste money and produce bad conclusions. This status quo is perpetuated and new funding is granted for new badly designed studies. Are scientists gone mad? Don't they understand what they are doing?
"One of the problems with EHS research is its domination by psychologists and psychiatrists. This leads to generation of research studies that by design are unable to detect EHS. Using methods of psychology or psychiatry will not answer whether biochemically physiology of our body is affected by the exposure to EMF. . .

I regard most videos I get with great suspicion . . . many of them have that "Hitler is alive and well living in Argentina" look about them.
This video which has "Smart Meters" as surveillance devices, frankly, disturbs me greatly and if it is true, even up to a point, we must demand an answer not from BC Hydro - why talk to the monkey when you can talk to the organ grinder?
This and another big question arise - this is a one billion dollar exercise and not only were we not consulted, neither were our MLA's.
This is taxation - for that's what it is - without representation. Hitler may not be alive and well in Argentina but I regard this video as a message that must be dealt with. Oh, Yes . . . 'if you've nothing to hide, why are you against a little surveillance?"
The answer is that I do have something to hide . . . MY PRIVACY!"
