Cell Phone Action Kit
This Cell Phone "Action Kit" offers an essential collection of pro-active ways to become informed about mobile phone technology in our society. Strategies for safer use are needed -- changes in thinking and behaviour we all need to acknowledge and act upon if we are to lessen current and future impacts of cell phone use.

Bill C-648 - An Act Respecting the Prevention of Potential Health Risks From Radio frequency Electromagnetic Radiation
From C4ST's Frank Clegg:
February 15, 2015
As you are aware, we joined MP Terence Young in Ottawa for the introduction of Bill C-648 - "The Warning Labels for Radio Apparatus Act". [Bill C-648] We are very pleased with the cross-party support we have received with 15 MP's publicly committing to support the bill to date, including former NDP health critic MP Libby Davis who requested to be a seconder on the Bill. We also received coverage in ten separate media outlets on the day's following the event.
We are disappointed, but not surprised, with the reaction from the Industry. Their dismissive comments tell us they will continue to keep their safety warnings buried in their manuals. Warnings that clearly state a minimum distance that all devices should be held away from our bodies and those of our children. See CWTA (Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association) comments . . . . in response to Bill C-648. This lobby association represents most major telecom companies in Canada.
Momentum is building around the world in countries dealing with the unsafe use of technology. The French Parliament recently passed a law requiring all advertisements regarding cell phones must now show a device (ear buds or speaker mode) that limits exposure to radiation. The same French law banned the use of WI-FI in day care centers and nurseries for children three years of age and younger. See . . . our interpretation of the new law.
Taiwanese lawmakers just last week passed new legislation in which parents who allow children younger than two years of age to use tablets and smartphones face fines. In Belgium it is illegal to market cell phones to children younger than 7 years of age.
While the 15 supportive MPs to date is good start to Bill C-648, there are another 293 MP's across Canada that share in the responsibility to protect Canadians. We ask that you . . . send an e-mail to your MP. If your MP is on the list of supporters found in the middle of the campaign page, please thank them. If they are not, we ask you to send them an email outlining why you think they should support this important bill. We have supplied suggested points for you to consider.
C4ST will be in Ottawa next week discussing Bill C-648 with select MPs. If you receive a positive response to your email please let me know by replying to this email, and I will contact your MP to see if we can set up a meeting to discuss further. All Canadians have a right to know that there is a safe way to use and enjoy technology. Bill C-648 is a major step to help raise awareness.

ionizing and non-ionizing
This chart illustrates the frequencies that exist in the electromagnetic spectrum and where common EMF sources are located within the ionizing and non-ionizing range.
A percentage of the general population is adversely affected by the radiation emitted by cell phones, laptops, tablets and other personal devices. In any environment, this can cause serious health, safety, and behavioural problems (immediate, short-term, long-term, or permanent) for you and for others.

EMF: Microwave oven vs wireless devices
2.4 Gigahertz = Microwave Oven
2.4 Gigahertz = Everyday Wireless Devices
Our new video shows the results of a NANOS survey that highlight how Canadians perceive the radiation that comes from everyday wireless devices - and its potentially harmful health effects. Canadians are seriously concerned about wireless radiation, and C4ST is working hard to make sure Canadian technology is safe technology.
The purpose of this video is to give a short intro to C4ST, the issue and what needs to be done to change it. We intend to engage and start conversation with the public and politicians alike.
Please share this with your contacts, politicians, and press in your local communities. It can also be found on the front page of the main website www.c4st.org.
Thank you for sharing this important information.
CEO - C4ST
for concluding that radiation from cellular and cordless phones is a probable human carcinogen
From the Abstract in the journal Pathophysiology:
"Many nations, phone manufacturers, and expert groups, advise prevention in light of these concerns by taking the simple precaution of 'distance' to minimize exposures to the brain and body. We note than brain cancer is the proverbial 'tip of the iceberg'; the rest of the body is also showing effects other than cancers."
The full text of the article mentions the view about changing classification of RF-EMF (electromagetic radiation from wireless devices) to a "probable human carcinogen".
